Croissant Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
The short version: Croissant collects no data. None. Your settings, optional session history, and Focus Shield choices stay on your device.
What the app stores, and where
- Your settings. Focus and break lengths, mode names, notification choices, backdrops, and Croissant’s size and position are stored on your device.
- Your optional session history. If Today tracking is on, Croissant stores the start time and duration of your focus and break sessions on your device. You can turn this history off in Settings.
- Your Focus Shield selection. If you choose distracting apps to cover during focus, Apple gives Croissant opaque Screen Time tokens for those apps. Croissant cannot use those tokens to learn which apps you selected. The selection stays on your device.
- Shared app data. A small amount of session and preference data is shared locally between Croissant, its widget, and its Device Activity Monitor extension through Apple’s App Groups system. This lets the widget show your current session and lets the extension remove shields at the end of focus. It does not send data off your device.
Permissions
- Screen Time. Focus Shield uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks. Permission is optional. Croissant uses it only to cover apps you choose during focus and uncover them during breaks.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, Croissant schedules session reminders locally on your device. The developer does not receive notification activity.
- Live Activities. If supported by your device, Croissant can show the current session on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island. That session information is handled on your device.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-ups, or logins inside the app.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party SDKs.
- No developer-operated server and no off-device data collection.
- No selling, sharing, or transferring of personal data.
External website
Croissant includes an optional link to The Last Bites. Tapping it opens a website in your browser. Any information you choose to provide on that website is governed by the website’s own privacy practices and is not collected by the Croissant app.
Deleting your data
You can turn off Today tracking in Croissant, revoke Screen Time and notification permissions in iOS Settings, and clear app shields by ending focus. Deleting Croissant removes its locally stored app data. iOS manages the data used by widgets and app extensions as part of the app.
Children
Croissant is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top.
